Living at Grosvenor House

Welcome to Grosvenor House, you are now a key part of Grosvenor House, and there is nobody more important to life at Grosvenor House than you.

In the first few days you will be introduced to a member of staff, who will hopefully form a special relationship with you. This person is called a Keyworker and their role is to ensure that your life at Grosvenor House is what you want it to be, personalised and meeting your needs and wants. This special relationship will be nourished and you will feel that there is a member of staff at Grosvenor House who will come a chat to you regularly, with your best interests always in mind. Your Keyworker along with the Home Manager will give you an introduction to living at Grosvenor House within the first few days, and this will be an ideal time to make sure you are entirely confident with your new surroundings.

In these first days your Keyworker along with the Home Manager will spend lots of time with you, talking about your life before Grosvenor House, and trying to ensure that your new life reflects your old life as much as you want. We try and talk through what your hopes about Grosvenor House are, we will check what you like to eat and drink, what time you like to get up, if you prefer baths or showers, what you like to do in terms of interests and activities, your religious beliefs and ethnic choices, plus all sorts of other things you want to share with us. This will also be an ideal opportunity to ask you questions about the care you wish to receive, and perhaps start to give thought to an advanced care plan if this is appropriate.

You can also use this as an opportunity to do things differently if you wish. Perhaps you would like to explore a new interest, or make a few life style changes such as stop smoking, a change of diet, perhaps become more active, or socialise a little more, we will support and help you in all these matters. You will be able to decide yourself with a little help from your friends or family and with the full support of us.

We will check with you as time goes by that we are still meeting your hopes, needs and wants, and if you wish we can rearrange things. We will also make sure you know how to make a complaint if you are not happy about anything.

From time to time we will ask you and your family or friends how you think we are doing, what you like, and what we could do better. We will then let you now what we will be doing differently in the future to meet your requirements.

You can bring any personal belongings with you that you wish and we will arrange these for you. You can also bring a pet with you as long as we can all meet its needs.

There are no set visiting times, and visitors can come at any time and stay as long as you wish, in fact they can even stay over night. Your visitors can also have meals with you, which Grosvenor House will happily provide.

If you wish you can have a key to your room door, and it can be kept locked whilst you are elsewhere, and if required we can look after your personal spending money or anything else. We will always make sure that you feel safe and secure at Grosvenor House, and that your personal information will always remain confidential.

We have lots more information, policies and procedures, which we will be happy to explain and go through with you.
